Kanchan brings over seven years of educational leadership experience transforming curriculum and instructional practices across diverse learning environments. As Assistant Department Head of Mathematics at Newton North High School, she has led comprehensive curriculum overhauls, scaled instructional coaching across a department of 34 educators, and championed equity-focused initiatives that increased test scores while dramatically improving outcomes for historically marginalized students.
With dual Master's degrees in Mathematics Education and Electrical Engineering, Kanchan bridges rigorous content expertise with student-centered pedagogy. Her work spans curriculum development grounded in frameworks like Building Thinking Classrooms and Universal Design for Learning, professional development that transforms teacher practice through coaching and PDSA cycles, and equity initiatives including bias-resistant grading and culturally responsive instruction.
Kanchan's unique perspective comes from navigating multiple educational systems—from India's structured academic environment to American classrooms celebrating individual student journeys—and her work as an international consultant implementing India's New Education Policy. She has presented at NCTM and ATMNE conferences, contributed to interdisciplinary curriculum design, and been featured on educational podcasts discussing joyful math teaching.
A fellow in the Transformative Leaders of Massachusetts program, Kanchan holds Administrator and Secondary Mathematics licenses and is passionate about creating systems where every student's potential is defined by their abilities and dreams, not their zip code or demographics. Based in Belmont, MA, Kanchan is dedicated to helping districts and schools bridge the gap between their stated values and actual practices, creating sustainable change through collaborative leadership.
